A Hell of A Paradise
Kaushambi, a prime colony and a home to several swank outfits are one of the first colonies one encounters on entering Ghaziabad. It is facing severe traffic problems due to the U.P. Bus terminal nearby and the Pacific Mall right at the crossing. There is no traffic police control in this area. As soon as the traffic enters the Ghaziabad boundary, mayhem begins. Private buses and three wheelers, which care two hoots for any rules, cause chaos and traffic remains clogged for 15-20 minutes at a time. Especially in office hours the situation worsens to the point of an absolute mess. These private three wheeler and bus owners behave like a part of an organized criminal gang and don't think twice about beating up people when tackled about their reckless behavior.
Vaishali, Kaushambi and Indrapuram are considered as the cream areas of Ghaziabad and the entrance to these is such that it sends shivers down the spine to cross and enter this area. As soon as one enters broken roads, non-existent streetlights, large potholes, stray cattle and canines are there to welcome one. Most of the roads of the so-called posh area of Ghaziabad are in hopeless condition with pits as deep as a foot gaping wide. The road connecting Vaishali to Indrapuram, from BEL crossing to Hindon Canal, via sec-4 market and the one connecting Animal Park to St. Thomas school are most of the time clogged with traffic and it is a chore to cross this pot holed and crowded area. This often causes traffic jams. There are several T points along these roads, which in absence of traffic police or rules are most of the time, in a state of jam. In addition, the rampant encroachment on main road of sec-4 makes it damn difficult to reach the road going to Indirapuram.
The condition of roads in sec 3, 4 and 5 is such that commuting on them is more of a roller-coaster ride. Small builders along with some big names are responsible for such pathetic condition of roads. They use the roads as factory premises with all the rubble and building material strewn all over the place and the underground water being pumped out creating puddles and slush. The construction of a mall and a residential complex at the main sec4 & 5 crossing is responsible for the deplorable condition of this road.
If one is coming from Preet Vihar to Vaishali or Kaushambi, it takes hardly 5 or 10 minutes to reach Anand Vihar but to reach one's destination nearby; it may take another 20 to 30 minutes. We have Ghaziabad administration to thank for it. Government and Builders together are busy portraying a rosy picture of this area to attract buyers but when these rose tinted glasses come off, the real picture is quite dismal. Its time people stopped him or herself from getting fooled and raised their voices against the neglect and total apathy this area is facing.
